What would you say is your secret to success?
One of my favorite quotes, from Colin Powell, defines my path: “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” I’ve had generous mentors throughout my career, and I believe in paying it forward by mentoring others.

Why should someone consider a career in insurance?
If you enjoy solving puzzles and helping others, this is a great career. Jump in headfirst, learn as much as you can, and stay humble. The industry is constantly evolving, resilient, and will always provide for your family.

What inspires you most about working with our teams or supporting our clients?
This truly is a servant industry. I take great pleasure in helping people who need and want it, and our business gives our teams the ability to do so regularly.

What originally led you to a career in insurance?
Honestly, I wasn’t specifically looking at insurance. I wanted a role that would allow me to move up and pursue my own goals. Plexus had a position available on an incredible team, and the support from every associate made stepping into a new industry feel possible.

It’s an industry where you can relate to clients, understand what they’re going through, and help them be in a better position tomorrow than they are today.

What has been the most defining or memorable moment of your insurance career so far?
One of the most impactful lessons came from a leader who told me he didn’t hire me to fix my weaknesses; he hired me for my strengths. He built a team around me so I could focus on what I do best. As he put it, “You don’t hire Aaron Judge to play catcher or start playing football. Accentuate your strengths, and you will do great things here. We remove the boulders that will hold you back. Be you.”

What advice would you give to someone entering the insurance field today?
Show up, make yourself available, and build relationships. Humans need connection, and we work best when we understand we’re working for one another, not just the firm.

Who has influenced your career the most, and what did you learn from them?
Jeff Brogan, EVP, Technology Services Practice Leader and Partner, has had the greatest influence on my career. He believed in me when I had no experience in insurance or technology and helped me discover my strengths. Jeff gave me the confidence to present to major stakeholders during product demos and taught me how to navigate complex client communications. His mentorship has shaped not only my skills but also my ability to approach challenges with confidence and clarity.

What excites you most about the insurance industry and its future?
Rapid advancements in AI and technology are creating tools that allow benefits teams to spend more time consulting with clients instead of managing administrative tasks. It’s an opportunity to deliver more value and enhance the client experience.

What has been the most defining or memorable moment of your insurance career so far?
Less than four hours into my first brokerage role, I helped a client understand a complex renewal. Translating technical underwriting concepts into meaningful insights for the client was extremely gratifying and reinforced the impact consulting can have.
