Mattye Richardson, a student at the University of Texas at Austin and a 2022 Summer Employee Benefits Intern at The Plexus Groupe’s Dallas office, has been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 academic scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year, as announced by The Council Foundation.
“Mattye had a desire to learn our business and took the internship seriously. She was a big contributor to every team she worked with,” said Laurie Kuhlwein, Employee Benefits Practice Leader at The Plexus Groupe. “She was able to complete many projects with the teams she supported which allowed the team to focus on other client priorities.”
The Council Foundation’s mission is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with member firms of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. In awarding the scholarships, an independent selection committee looks for candidates who have the potential to excel as leaders and contributors in the commercial insurance brokerage business sector.
“I am so excited to receive the CIAB scholarship. It will give me the confidence to pursue the career that I want,” shared Mattye Richardson. “I am so thankful to The Plexus Groupe for giving me the opportunity to intern with them this summer. The experiences and knowledge I have gained are invaluable in the pursuit of my career objectives.”
Mattye is one of 75 college students across the country who received a Council Foundation scholarship this year.
