This summer, while superhero blockbusters like Superman and The Fantastic Four hit theaters, The Plexus Groupe had a standout cast of its own: four talented interns.
In honor of National Intern Day, and with their final day tomorrow, we’re spotlighting our interns one last time. Over the past nine weeks, they’ve engaged in hands-on projects, received mentorship, and gained meaningful insight into the insurance industry. From day one, they each contributed their unique strengths, and we’re proud to celebrate the impact they’ve made!

Gladys Castro Employee Benefits Intern
Dallas, TX
Texas Woman’s University
Finance Major, Business Administration Minor
Superhero Name: Checklist Wizard
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
To magically create perfect to-do lists that update themselves. I would also have a procrastination shield that keeps me focused and blocks all distractions.
What has been the most valuable or rewarding part of your internship experience?
Knowing that my work helps our clients achieve the best results. It’s exciting to see how my contributions make a real difference. This experience has taught me the value of teamwork and attention to detail.
What’s one thing you learned during your internship that surprised you?
How much I can apply my financial knowledge in real-world work. I didn’t expect it to be so helpful in solving problems and making decisions. It showed me how critical my skills are in the workplace.

Daniel Dixon Sales Intern
Dallas, TX
University of Arkansas
Finance Major
Superhero Name: The Closer
Which superhero do you relate to most and why?
Spider-Man because he’s quick-thinking, adaptable, and always finds a way to get the job done under pressure. He also stays grounded and focused, no matter how chaotic things get, which is a mindset that’s essential in a fast-paced sales environment.
What has been the most valuable or rewarding part of your internship experience?
Gaining exposure to the sales process and understanding how different teams collaborate to win and retain business. I also appreciated the chance to learn from experienced professionals and see how strategy, preparation, and communication come together in the real world.
What’s one thing you learned during your internship that surprised you?
How dynamic and fast-paced the insurance industry really is. Communication and innovative problem-solving are always needed, and I now realize how much strategy is required.

Riley Heydenburg Employee Benefits Intern
Deer Park, IL
Marquette University
Psychology Major, Human Resources Minor
Superhero Name: Enrollment Enhancer
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
Instantly enroll eligible employees into the perfect benefits package with the wave of a wand (or mouse).
What has been the most valuable or rewarding part of your internship experience?
Learning from other associates. Whether it is from collaborating on a project with team members or receiving advice from Senior Leadership meetings, I appreciate gaining insight from associates’ experiences.
What’s one thing you learned during your internship that surprised you?
The size of the insurance industry and the scope of its operations. There are many more insurance companies that I previously imagined, and some cover very niche and unusual things, in addition to the typical coverages.

HeeEun Yamamoto Brand & Marketing Intern
Deer Park, IL
University of Illinois
Advertising Major, Criminology Minor
Superhero Name: Canva Witch
Which superhero do you relate to most and why?
Daredevil — he’s deeply empathetic but guarded, and boxing is his emotional outlet, like mine. He overthinks emotionally and tactically, which I can relate to.
What has been the most valuable or rewarding part of your internship experience?
Getting the opportunity to listen to Senior Leadership. I received a wealth of wisdom and inspiration from them, and I appreciate them for taking the time to tell us their stories.
What’s one thing you learned during your internship that surprised you?
The use of AI. I never knew it would be encouraged to use, and how convenient it is.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to our 2025 intern cohort for all of their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm this summer. Your dedication has made a real difference across the organization, and we wish you every success as you return to campus and continue your journey.
